-- The Alabama PTA's mission is to support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the
schools, in the community and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make
decisions affecting children; to assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and
protect their children; and to encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of
this nation.
Alabama Math, Science, and Technology
Initiative -- The Alabama Math, Science, and Technology Initiative (AMSTI) is the Alabama
Department of Education's initiative to improve math and science teaching statewide. The
initiative provides three basic services: professional development, equipment and materials, and
on-site support.
Alabama Science Olympiad
-- The Science Olympiad is an international nonprofit organization devoted to improving the
quality of science education, increasing student interest in science and providing recognition
for outstanding achievement in science education by both students and teachers. These goals are
accomplished through classroom activities, research, training workshops and the encouragement of
intramural, district, regional, state and national tournaments.
